South Goa is one of the two districts of the state of Goa. The district stretches to an area of around 1,966 km2 and is bound by the district of Uttar Kannada, Karnataka to its south & east. It has its headquarters at Margao. The district is further divided into six taluks namely Canacona (Chaudi), Dharbandora, Mormugao, Quepem, Salcete (Margao) and Sanguem.
Unlike North Goa, this district in the south has a calm & peaceful atmosphere and escapes the often hectic and commercialised demands of the north. South Goa is popular for its secluded, calm & clean beaches, eco-friendly natural surroundings, wildlife sanctuaries, waterfalls, temples and some historic monuments. It is also known for its high-end executive class hotels & resorts with exceptional quality of service.
South Goa also have some very good beach shacks which serve delicious local Goan delicacies as well as continental style of foods. The shacks also serve good cocktails and other refreshments to its visitors. Most shacks also provide beach beds & huts, music, massage as well as sports activities like beach volleyball, football, badminton, pool tables among others.
All in all South Goa is idle for those who would love to stay away from the crowded environments and just want to relax and spend some quality time with their loved ones.
